The Bird I Am by Arlyn Valencia

Do birds know they're pretty?
Do they know I can hear them sing?
Do they know their grace is becoming,
And my dreams fly on their wings?

I was running down the canyon,
I was jumping mighty high,
I forgot if my dreams were with me,
I forgot I've got 50 miles.

I'm like a birdling to my dreams
I've got to fly and cross the skies
     There is that rainbow somewhere,
Just wished the sun's not in my eyes (Will be my guide now that I can fly!).

Miles and miles of sodden trails, I
Came across some sodden minds,
Slipped and fell; where are my bird wings?
"Rise up now" says the wise.

"You don't need  no bird wings to lift you,
Just think up, turn your face to the skies
Feel the spirit right within you
Don't resist, get up and fly "
